Caring for your garmentsUpdated a year ago

How do I wash my items?

Some recommended actions:

  •  Hand washing is strongly recommended, however you can also wash your items on a gentle cycle. A setting of cold is usually recommended for washing delicate clothes when combined with a delicate cycle and not on a quick wash
  • Always check the care label and washing instructions before laundering your clothes.
  • Sort your laundry into groups based on similar wash care instructions: whites, darks, and colours.
  •  Follow the highest permitted washing temperature indicated on the care label. When in doubt, opt for a lower temperature.
  • Prior to washing, turn garments inside out.

Some things to avoid:

  • Refrain from using excessive amounts of detergent.
  • Do not use fabric detergents that contain bleach.
  • Unless specified on the care label, avoid tumble drying garments.
  • Avoid soaking garments with white and contrast coloured panels for extended periods.
  • Garments with metal trims should not be left to soak.

How do I stop my items from shrinking and fading?

  • To prevent shrinking and fading of rayon, linen, and Tencel fabrics, follow these simple steps:
  • Read the care label: Always check the care label instructions before washing these fabrics.
  •  Use gentle cycles: Opt for delicate or gentle cycles on your washing machine.
  •  Wash in cold water: Use cold water instead of hot water to minimize the risk of shrinking.
  • Avoid excessive agitation: Limit the agitation of the fabrics by using a shorter wash cycle or selecting a delicate setting.
  • Air dry or low heat: After washing, air dry the fabrics by hanging them or use a low heat setting on the dryer.
  • Follow specific instructions: If there are any specific recommendations for these fabrics on the care label, follow them accordingly.

Fading :

  • Sort by colour: Separate your laundry into groups based on similar colours before washing. This helps prevent colour bleeding and transfer.
  • Turn garments inside out: Before washing, turn the garments inside out. This protects the outer surface and helps maintain the vibrancy of the colour
  • Avoid over-washing: Wash your garments only when necessary. Frequent washing can contribute to colour fading over time
  • Keep away from direct sunlight: When drying or storing these fabrics, avoid exposing them to direct sunlight for extended periods. Sunlight can fade colours over time.

By following these steps, you can help prevent shrinking and fading and maintain the quality of your rayon, linen, and Tencel fabrics.
